ЁЯлА VidarbhaтАЩs Heart Health at Risk: Wockhardt Hospitals Survey Reveals Rising Threat Among Young & Middle-Aged Patients
Nagpur, September 25, 2025: A recent survey conducted by Wockhardt Hospitals, Nagpur, in collaboration with local doctors, has revealed a worrying trend: heart disease is no longer just an ailment of the elderly. Increasing numbers of young and middle-aged patients are being diagnosed with serious cardiac conditions in the Vidarbha region.
The month-long Heart Health Insights Survey included cardiologists, general practitioners, and resident medical officers (RMOs) from Nagpur and surrounding areas. The study paints a stark picture of the growing challenges posed by heart disease in Central India.
тЪая╕П Rising Heart Risk Among the Youth
Most doctors reported that the majority of cardiac patients now fall in the 41тАУ60 age group, but alarmingly, even patients in their 30s are arriving at hospitals with heart-related emergencies.
Dr. Nitin Tiwari, Senior Cardiologist, Wockhardt Hospitals, said:
“Ten years ago, seeing a 30-year-old cardiac patient in Nagpur was rare. Today, stress, poor lifestyle, and lack of timely check-ups are causing young patients to be hospitalized after heart attacks. This is a serious warning.”
Dr. Sumit Narang, Senior CVTS Surgeon, added:
“High stress levels at work and home, combined with poor sleep, are silently increasing heart disease risk among young adults.”
Dr. Dinesh Padole, Cardiologist, noted:
“Urbanization, sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, rising pollution, stress, diabetes, and genetic factors are contributing to early onset heart disease in India.”
ЁЯз╛ Preventive Care Still Lacking
The survey highlighted major gaps in awareness and prevention:
-
Most patients undergo check-ups only after symptoms appear.
-
Over two-thirds of patients lack knowledge of their blood pressure, cholesterol, and sugar levels.
-
More than half fail to recognize early warning signs such as chest pain, sweating, or shortness of breath.
-
Delayed hospital visits reduce the chance of life-saving interventions during the тАЬgolden hour.тАЭ
Dr. Amit Ballamwar, Interventional Cardiologist, emphasized:
“Preventive screenings are still uncommon. Timely awareness and check-ups are essential to save lives.”
ЁЯПе Wockhardt HospitalsтАЩ Commitment
Ravi Bagli, Centre Head, Wockhardt Hospitals, Nagpur, stated:
“This survey reflects the ground reality in Nagpur. Awareness, rapid response, and availability of treatment are the three pillars to combat heart disease. Wockhardt is committed to improving VidarbhaтАЩs heart health with the support of doctors, society, and media.”
